The Petroleum Sector Powers Community Development with New Projects in Alexandria

In a remarkable step towards enhancing community welfare, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources led by His Excellency Eng. Karim Badawi, inaugurated a series of transformative projects in the villages of Al-Rawda 45 and Al-Wafaa-wa-AlAmal in Al-Amreya district, Alexandria. The projects unveiled on Monday, 21st of October 2024, aim to improve living conditions for the residents marking a significant milestone in the sector’s commitment to sustainable community development. This initiative, with a total investment of EGP 19,050,000, includes the renovation and furnishing of 60 houses, the distribution of 30 heads of livestock to support low-income families, and the launch of 20 small-scale businesses to boost local economies. These efforts are part of a larger collaboration between AMOC and Al-Orman Association reflecting a growing focus on social responsibility in the sector. His Excellency emphasized the importance of cooperation between state institutions to uplift disadvantaged communities. He underscored the importance of the sector’s role in fostering community development, expressing gratitude to the residents affirming that they are integral to the broader vision of progress. General Ahmed Khaled, Governor of Alexandria, highlighted the broader impact of this initiative stating that the project is about empowering people and fostering human development. Eng.Amr Lotfy, AMOC’s Chairman and CEO, stressed on AMOC’s commitment to leave a lasting positive mark on surrounding communities. He emphasized that the partnership with Al-Orman Association is part of the company’s mission to support Egypt’s national development goals. Senior officials from the Petroleum Sector were present at the event including Eng. Moataz Ahmed Atef; Head of the Central Administration of the Technical Office and the Ministry’s Official Spokesperson, Eng. Hassanein Mohamed; Head of the Central Administration of the Minister’s Office, Mr. Ahmed El-Gendy; Chairman of Al-Orman Association, Eng. Medhat Shaaban; EGPC’s CEO Assistant for Social Responsibility and Major General Mamdouh Shaaban; Al-Orman Association General Manager. The event was also attended by Mr. Khaled Mohsen Abu Khatwa; AMOC’s Social Responsibility General Manager, along with a number of representatives from the Ministry of Petroleum, AMOC and Al-Orman Association. The launch of these projects underscores the Ministry of Petroleum’s proactive role in community development, setting a benchmark for how the sector can contribute to the country’s sustainable development agenda. Through strategic partnerships with state institutions and civil society, the sector continues to demonstrate leadership in supporting Egypt’s economic, social, and environmental growth.
