In alignment with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategic push to reduce carbon emissions, Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC) has initiated a competition for creative ideas aimed at boosting energy efficiency and cutting emissions within the company. This initiative falls under the broader leadership of H.E. Eng. Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and was launched under the patronage of Eng. Amr Lotfy, AMOC’s Chairman and CEO. The competition drew participation from 13 engineers and technicians across 8 different departments, reflecting AMOC’s commitment to engaging its workforce in achieving energy conservation goals. This effort is part of a comprehensive strategy that emphasizes investment in human resources. The company has actively worked on training a certified energy team, increasing employee awareness, and promoting the importance of energy efficiency and emission reduction. Submissions were evaluated based on several criteria, including feasibility, investment cost and return, scalability, environmental impact, and the potential for reducing carbon emissions. In a ceremony coinciding with World Environment Day, the top three participants with the most innovative ideas were honored by AMOC’s leadership. Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to all participants, with special recognition given to the participant who submitted the most ideas, the one who provided the best scientific presentation, and the department that made the largest contribution. A separate award was also introduced to acknowledge exceptional creativity and innovation. This competition underscores AMOC’s ongoing efforts to incorporate sustainability and environmental responsibility into its operational ethos, positioning the company as a leader in the petroleum sector’s transition to more sustainable practices. #energyefficiency
